"Contrast” is very special to me beause it i is made by both the Danish nature and me (Truly),
Here is the story:
In Denmark the weather change a lot, so this day I was prepared for rain 4 hours later, when I set out for a hike looking for a painting spot.
I found this wonderful spot, but only one hour later the first small raindrops hit me.
This is normal and I was wearing af rainsuit, so I did not care and went on painting. As the raindrops got heavier I realised, that I had to walk back after only having started the painting with basic structures and paint.
I got soaked!
When I went over the doorstep, the oilpaint had a whole new structure. Oilpaint is not destroyed by water, but the mulitiple raindrops had classed in in the paint and made another structure, than my brushstrokes.
When it had dried, I went back on a sunny day to re-do the painting on the same canvas.
I only finished the 2 trees in the middle.
The reason for that is, that a passing by fellow hiker - suddenly behind me - said loudly "wow".
That was for me the signal to stop.
So this painting is really a painting made by nature and man together!
I have actually painted this scene 3 times, because I just fell in love with it.
It is extremely calming just to be there. You are just in the mist of nature. I enjoy relaxing and painting while listening to the birds and the small creek running besides med.
My many visits there have made me wonder about the symbolic in especially this landscape:
- The freshly cut, green path and the yellow, unkempt grass create a sense of wildness.
- The branches of the trees, stretching towards the sky, symbolize man's quest for knowledge and growth.
- What lies behind the trees awakens curiosity and symbolizes strength and continuity in a changing world.
