Spring Farewell

Size: Size frame: 30x40cm/11.8*15,7". Size within passepartout: 20*30cm/7,9*11,8”

In Denmark we love the blossoming trees in spring. This tree is special as it is very old. As you can see has I already been cut once and soon we have to do it again before the 2 big branches gets too heavy.

It is standing in my lawn and I enjoys it from my kitchen-window every day. Every year I said that I want to paint it in the spring when it stands the most beautiful with the pink blossoms. And every year I get out to late.  

This painting - Spring Farewell - portrays a beautiful cherry blossom tree in the final stages of spring, because I ways too late! 
It though became very symbolic to me: The crooked branches, balanced under the weight of pink leaves, symbolize the fleeting beauty and balance of nature.

I figured out that if I wanted to paint it at the most beautiful time I only had one day. I could not say - now is the time and wait a day. I found instead the beauty in the final stages of spring, where the smalle green (here reddish green) leaves popped out and showed we the hope for a wonderful summer.

The painting invites you to reflect on the fragility of life and the small miracles in the details of the nature. And to me it became the start of painting the small transitions in nature.
